From the background noise when my mother called an hour ago, the funeral didn't dampen anyone's spirits excessively. We may not be Irish, but Trinidadians believe in cheerful wakes anyway.

I'm so terribly sorry about your aunt. The things you wrote about her, to write about how she IS, not WAS...I was crying. I'm glad you had someone so special in your life, and so sorry that she's no longer there.

As for the representatives of your branch of the family? I don't know where to begin with that, but I'd feel a bit o' animosity about that. I'm sorry you couldn't be there to say goodbye...

*hugs.* Thank you. It isn't ideal, but it'll be all right. At least I did get to say goodbye to her, and she didn't have to spend too much time in pain. For the rest - I guess that it can't hurt her now, and I can deal.
