I've had this stuck in my head off and on for days anyway.

Gulf War Song -- Moxy Früvous

We got a call to write a song about the war in the Gulf
But we shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings
So we tried, then gave up, 'cause there was no such song
But the trying was very revealing
What makes a person so poisonous righteous
That they'd think less of anyone who just disagreed?
She's just a pacifist, he's just a patriot
If I said you were crazy, would you have to fight me?

Fighters for liberty, fighters for power
Fighters for longer turns in the shower
Don't tell me I can't fight, 'cause I'll punch out your lights
And history seems to agree that I would fight you for me

So we read and we watched all the specially selected news
And we learned so much more 'bout the good guys
Won't you stand by the flag? Was the question unasked
Won't you join in and fight with the allies?
What could we say ... we're only 25 years old?
With 25 sweet summers, and hot fires in the cold
This kind of life makes that violence unthinkable
We'd like to play hockey, have kids and grow old

Fighters for Texaco, fighters for power
Fighters for longer turns in the shower
Don't tell me I can't fight 'cause I'll punch out your lights
And history seems to agree that I would fight you for me
That us would fight them for we

He's just a peacenik and she's just a warhawk
That's where the beach was, that's where the sea
What could we say ... we're only 25 years old?
And history seems to agree
that I would fight you for me
That us would fight them for we

Is that how it always will be?

I like the fact that the percentages are given. I don't like my particular percentages. Such is life, I suppose. ;)

The direction you need to take to resolve any problems before you.
SELF-DISCIPLINE
the audacity to challenge yourself

Sun in Capricorn or in the Tenth House

You may be ready for bigger goals and making greater efforts to fulfill them. There's an undeniable bravado to this tight-rope-walking tuba player and fireworks display. With one foot in the air and the other recently landed, the positioning remains precarious; as if at any time everything could topple. The uniformed artist, and instrument are given the color, or value, instead of the more downplayed grey-toned fanfare. The unlit bulb suggests an unrealized idea, or maybe self-image, awaiting to be turned on by attaining success on your own terms.

I'm off to get ready for work. Goodnight, everyone.

FUNCTIONS
Legislative 4.9 Low Middle
Executive 4.2 Low Middle
Judicial 3.2 Very Low

Legislative Style
Legislative people like to do things their own way. They like creating, formulating, and having things. In general, they tend to be people who like to make their own rules.
Legislative people enjoy doing things the way they do them. They prefer problems that are not prestructured for them, but rather that they can structure for themselves.
Legislative people also prefer creative and constructive planning-based activities, such as writing papers, design projects, and creating new business or educational systems.

Executive Style
People with the executive style are implementers: they like to do, and generally prefer to be giving guidance as to what to do or how to do what needs to be done. Executive people also like to enforce rules and laws (their own or others').
Executive people prefer problems that are given to them or structured for them and like to do and take pride in the doers - in getting things done. Executive people tend to gravitate toward occupations that are quite different from those to which legislative people are attracted.
Executive people will tend to the valued by organizations that want people to do things in a way that appears to a set of rules or guidelines.

... I'm guessing that this adequately explains the variety of jobs I've held. *chuckle.* Both tendencies are almost equally strong.

FORMS
Monarchic 4.0 High Middle
Hierarchic 5.1 Low Middle
Oligarchic 3.1 Low Middle
Anarchic 3.1 Very Low

Monarchic Style
People who are predominantly monarchic style tend to be motivated by a single goal or need at a time. Monarchic people also tend to be single-minded and driven by whatever they are single-minded about. They have a tendency to see things in terms of their issues.
Monarchic people often attempt to solve problems, full speed ahead, damn the obstacles. They can be too decisive.

.. no argument there. I often make further messes by getting tired of something being out of order and breaking it further by pushing it instead of letting things lie.

Hierarchic Style
People with a hierarchic style tend to be motivated by a hierarchy of goals, with the recognition that not all of the goals can be fulfilled equally well and that some goals are more important than others. They thus tend to be priority setters who allocate carefully. They tend to be systematic and organized in their solutions to problems and in their decision making.

Oligarchic Style
In oligarchy, several individuals share power. Individuals with the oligarchic style tend to be motivated by several, often competitive goals of equal perceived importance. They have trouble deciding which goals to give priority to. The result is that they may have trouble allocating resources.

LEVELS
Global 3.8 Low Middle
Local 3.2 Low

Global people prefer to deal with relatively larger and often abstract issues. They tend to focus on the forest, sometimes at the expense of the trees. Their constant challenge is to stay grounded and not to get lost on cloud nine.

Local people prefer to deal with details, sometimes minute ones, and often ones surrounding concrete issues. They tend to focus on the trees, sometimes at the expense of the forest. Their constant challenge is to see the whole forest, and not just its individual elements.

so I guess it's a good sign that I didn't score high in either of them?

SCOPE
Internal 5.9 High
External 3.4 Low

Internal Style-External Style
People with an internal style tend to be motivated, task-oriented, sometimes aloof, and socially less sensitive than other people. At times they also lack interpersonal awareness, if only because they do not focus on it.

People with an external style, in contrast, tend to be more extroverted, people-oriented, outgoing, socially more sensitive, and interpersonally more aware.

no surprises there...

LEANINGS
Liberal 3.2 Very Low
Conservative 4.0 High Middle

Individuals with a liberal style like to go beyond existing rules and procedures and seek to maximize change. They also seek or are at least comfortable with ambiguous situations, and prefer some degree of unfamiliarity in life and work.

Individuals with a conservative style like to adhere to existing rules and procedures, minimize change, avoid ambiguous situations where possible, and prefer familiarity in life and work.

... I'm not surprised at this, either. I do best on familiar ground, if only because that frees up my resources for effecting change where I want it.

Linguistic 39
Mathematics 30
Visual/Spatial 36
Body/Kinesthetic 31
Naturalistic 27
Music 46
Interpersonal 28
Intrapersonal 44

I hadn't realised just how important music is -- my first reaction was along the lines of "music was beyond linguistic? Really?" But on second thought -- yeah. Odd quirk time: I associate music with certain tasks done in order. So that while I was at Fresenius, I would hum the same tunes while carrying out full inspections and other tunes while making outdoor rounds and punching the keyreaders, for instance. There was some song I was trying to remember tonight and couldn't, although I know I sing it all the time -- but it seems to be associated with doing the rounds at the hotel, and I couldn't remember it while I was sitting at the desk.

Intrapersonal way beyond interpersonal ... no surprise there. If not for this thing I have for the entire process of using words, I'd close off completely and be quite happy in my own head and my own skin. Visual/Spatial surprised me. (I'd have scored it lower.) All in all, though... interesting.

WATER OF EARTH. Mommy! Well, you could be. You are good with plants and small creatures such as children. You're very generous and basically great hearted. You probably make mad whack cookies and are good at managing the household; also businesses. You'd make a good tax person, book keeper, gardener, massage therapist, etc. The ever domestic and practical one, you can stretch a penny and make ramen noodles go a long way.
Quiz created by Polly Snodgrass.

I had to.

You are 59% geek
You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other.

I was just browsing someone's journal (which I've never browsed before) and I read an entry which I know I've seen before -- verbatim -- in someone else's LJ. I don't remember that entry being attributed to anyone else at that time, nor does the one I just read give credit to the other author.

Plagiarism? In LJ? Yipes.
