Appearing on television within twenty-four hours of your kid's admission that he planted 18 pipe bombs, and making the statement "my son is not a dangerous person" doesn't help his case. It only makes you look either feeble or plain fuckwitted.

Doesn't it, though? Say "I never thought he was dangerous," and you come off as confused but well-meaning. You can be shocked, disappointed... hell, be proud of him if you want, and I'll think you're an idiot, and I'll think he couldn't have known better. But to stand there and deny that he's dangerous in the teeth of his own confession is just unfathomable.
