If you really think there's no difference between Kerry and Bush except for the rhetoric, then please vote for Kerry. It will do you no harm and will potentially make other people -- including me -- much happier.

The truth is, if you're saying that, you probably don't -- at all -- believe there's no difference. In actuality, you've decided you prefer Bush, for whatever reason, and that's okay. But the thing is, we both know that's what you really mean, and the attempt to say "your candidate's no better than my candidate" without really endorsing your candidate is annoying as hell.

Nobody believes you, least of all you. So cut it out.

"Gee, what I've got isn't so great." (Or, at least, not great enough for me to say it's great.) "Hmm. there's something else over there that says it's better. I don't think I can know for sure unless I try it though... but nahh, I'm going to keep what I've got. And I'm going to tell everyone else that they shouldn't bother trying the new thing 'cause it's no better than what we've got."

... sounds pro status quo to me.

I think people who say it are ignorant and apathetic and probably won't vote unless you bribe them.

I actually sincerely hope that's true. Because, as David's mom said when she called to remind him to register to vote, "unless you're not voting for Kerry, in which case, you can ignore this completely." If they do vote, it probably would be for Bush. I'd be just as happy if they didn't.

Right. I lke to think that a lot of people who might ordinarily vote with some prompting but would vote Republican, might not even bother this time. Sure, GWB has a substantial number of rabid fans, but I think that a lot of traditional Republicans, like my mother, might be so turned off by his smarmy, asinine self that they might not even bother.

Puyallup Fair started today - went to the Washington Democrat booth and got a buttont that says "W sure doesn't stand for working women" and my father had to get "Some village in Texas is missing it's idiot." but there were some other good ones like "No BUSH in 2004," but written with ll and it next to the word, so it looked like "No BUllSHit in 2004." Genius. I didn't get that one only because I wanted to have it at work. :)
