And welcome home, Yang Liwei!

China's manned spaceflight concluded safely and successfully, with a smooth and safe re-entry. I am too thrilled for words right now -- I had not thought I could be teary-eyed with pride over a Chinese achievement, but this is not, truly, only a Chinese achievement. Like all our space endeavours, this a human triumph.

Congratulations, China, and thank you, Yang Liwei. May this be only the first of many such moments for you and for us all.

I think I know why this is exciting for me, moreso than the American space program in the last while...

They're crossing a threshold again.

Someone's doing something new.

About damn time - maybe they'll keep going where the US and Russia got hung up.

About damn time.

I hope they follow through with their plans to establish a moon colony. That would rock.

I'd like for us to get excited about space travel again and go see some other planets.
