Not in the way you were, but yes, I was sent
to a dead end street by these people.
I know many others have pulled their hair out
when dealing with Amazon, and I wouldn't
recommend Amazon to anyone after my experience-
I'm sure there are many who have had good
experiences with Amazon, but I haven't met any.

Oww. I've been lucky, I guess. I've gotten nothing but good service from them. Even this is just my impatience, rather than any fault of theirs. I'm sorry your experience was a negative one.

Most of my experiences (I try to keep my dealings with them at a minimum) are annoying, not awful. For example, I find it troublesome when an order for three books arrives in three packages, necessitating three trips in a van from the shippers, and in big boxes that could have held 5 or 10 books, with lots of styrofoam. Waste of materials, gas, time - but we're all environmentally obsessive out here, and Amazon embarrasses us with it's environmantal waste and insensitivity. Well, it embarasses and annoys me, anyway. I order from our University bookstore instead - free shipping. ;)

Hmm. I usually order one item at a time, and I haven't noticed that the boxes are oversized. Like I said, I guess I've just been lucky with them -- I've been hooked on amazon since my first order, where the paperback I ordered was out of stock so they sent me the hardcover at no charge, with an apology.

A very big thank you to my own Amazon-Santa. Hopefully you weren't expecting me to wait until christmas to open the parcel, Cair. I knew I hadn't ordered anything, and wasn't aware anyone else had, so its arrival caused no small amount of confusion. Not opening it, in case it was a christmas present was not an option.
